About Me

I was born in Padang, the capital of West Sumatera province, Indonesia, at May 14, 1970. I took my elementary school (SD negeri 80) and high schools (SMP negeri 2 and SMA Negeri 2) in this city, Padang.

After passing senior high school in 1988, I move to Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, to enter University of Indonesia, and went to department of computer science.

I got my bachelor degree in computer science majoring in management information systems and human-computer interaction on January 1994.

After that I work as a research assistant at Computer Science Center - University of Indonesia, member of human computer interaction and computer-assisted instruction (then we named it interactive multimedia) and also teaching assistant for undergraduate program there, for the courses : Programming Concepts, and Human-Computer Interaction.

In 1995, I join one of a leading management consulting firm, Klynvelt Peat Marwick Goerdeler (KPMG), and become a consultant in information technology management service in their office in Indonesia. I was there for 2 years, and most of my assignments were enterprise software implementation, and made me travelling throughout Indonesia to serve the clients. When I was at KPMG, it was the moment that I learned consulting practice for the first time. That was the start of my career as a professional consultant.

In 1997, I join PPM Institute of Management, the eldest management institution and school in Indonesia, and become management consultant and facilitator here, for public seminars and inhouse ones on client’s sites. I spent most of my career here, more that 7 years, until my resignation in 2004. That was the phase where I feel the advancement of my professional consultant career. I got assignments as consulting team head for several times.

Still at PPM, after completing my master degree in management, majoring in international and strategic management in 1999, I join the graduate school here (PPM Graduate School of Management) as faculty member in 2000, but as a beginner one. That was my first experience teaching for master or S2 program. My last assignments at PPM was as Knowledge Manager which was responsible to develop knowledge management system at PPM organization.

Then, in 2004, I join PT Daya Makara UI / Makara UI Consulting, a consulting firm owned by University of Indonesia, and I was assigned as the Division Head for Consulting Service. That year, I also began my activity teaching at Master of Information Technology program - University of Indonesia, and Master of Accounting program - Trisakti University.

I resign from Makara in 2005, and start working as a independent consultant or a freelance consultant. In the beginning of 2006, I start my Doctoral program in business management, majoring in human resource management and organization behavior at Bogor Agriculture University (IPB) until now.

In 2007, I develop People Performance Consulting (PPC-Indonesia) / PT. Havara Daya Sejahtera, with some friends, a firm that focused on organization and people development. This firm provides services in people development / training and consulting.

I am giving lecture at Advance Police Officer School (Sekolah Lanjutan Perwira Polri).

As the seminar leader at Blue Ocean Strategy for Hospital Management Seminar, organized by Indonesian Hospital Association, (I am in the middle, back row, grey suit).

Professional activities :

• Founder / Executive Partner / Consulting Director, People Performance Consulting (PPC-Indonesia), a consulting firm in the areas of strategic management, organization development, competency-based human resource management, and management and cultural aspects of information technology.

• Lecturer / faculty member, Master of Information Technology program - Faculty of Computer Science, University of Indonesia, for the courses : (1) Strategic Planning for Information Systems, (2) Corporate Information Systems Strategy, and (3) IT Project and Change Management.

• Management Advisor, Smart Sisfokampus, an open source based integrated application for education organization management.

Education background :

• Bachelor in computer science, majoring in human-computer interaction and information systems, from Faculty of Computer Science, University of Indonesia.

• Master of Management, majoring in international and strategic management, from PPM Graduate School of Management.

• Doctor of Business Management program (on-going), majoring in human resource management and organization development, Bogor Agriculture University (IPB).

Professional certification :

• Accredited Competency Professional, Specialist Management Resource (SMR) group, Malaysia, a certification for professional consultant on the area of competency-based human resource management.

Other activities :

• Member of advisory board, Alumni Association of University of Indonesia (ILUNI UI) / Dewan Pertimbangan Ikatan Alumni Universitas Indonesia (ILUNI UI) Pusat.

• Member (graduate member) of Indonesian Institute for Corporate Directorship (IICD)
