CORPORATE INFORMATION SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT (IKI82405T)

COURSE OBJECTIVES :
This course discusses the various aspects of Information Management and Strategy from within an enterprise. The issues brought up include those of recent management, supervision, control, as well as administration of Information Systems. Students are expected to be able to evaluate and comprehend the diverse organizational issues from the viewpoint of the Chief Information Officer (CIO). Discussions of applicable topics and case studies are highly encouraged.
AREAS OF FOCUS :
- Business evolutions and the networked economy.
- New trends in IS management – infrastructure and operations.
- Internet impacts in business execution and competition.
- Outsourcing, globalization, and inter-organizational connectivity.
- Project risks and project management.
At the completion of this course you should :
- understand the strategic use and role of IS/IT.
- understand the internal management of IS/IT.
- be able to define and analyze different types of IS/IT.
- be able to connect IS/IT with organizational needs.
- be able to evaluate IS/IT acquisition strategies.
- be able to develop IS/IT implementation plans.
- be able to analyze the human and organizational implications.
GRADING : Participation 10%, Assignments 40%, Mid-Term Exam 20%, Final Exam 30%.

Suggested readings will be announced throughout the semester, as lecturers see fit. Mostly popular articles and some scientific journal articles.
